George R. “Hoppy” Coleman, 79, passed away on April 12, 2021 after a short illness.

Hoppy was born on August 12, 1941 in Ashland, KY, a son of the late George R. and Frances Tiller Coleman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James “Gordy” Coleman, and a sister, Ann (Jerry) Burton.

Hoppy was an icon of the Rush community and beyond. He was self-employed and owned Hoppy’s Rich Oil for over 30 years. Most of the locals still refer to the place as Hoppy’s after his retirement. Hoppy met countless people and became a friend to so many through his years in business. He loved buying, selling and trading antique cars and enjoyed attending car shows to swap stories with friends from far and wide. In retirement, he liked talking to people who stopped in to browse at Hop’s Stop and Shop. Hoppy took great pride in his yard, which kept him very busy along with taking care of his grieving, side kick Marley.
